Yellowstone Wilderness Medical Education

(Free-Press-Release.com) December 8, 2011 -- Yellowstone National Park, On Friday, August 31, 2012, Mike and Erin Thompson, Wilderness Pack Trips (www.yellowstonepacktrips.com) will be joined by Yellowstone's Medical Director, Dr. Luanne Freer and Gary Matthews, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, and their participants on a four day Continuing Medical Educational pack trip in Yellowstone National Park backcountry. Trip is designed for Continuing Medical Education credits for physicians and other healthcare professionals who have interests in medical issues in a wilderness setting.

We are excited to be partnering with Dr. Luanne Freer and Gary Matthews, LCPC, on this backcountry trip in Yellowstone. Dr. Freer is best known as the founder and director of the base camp medical clinic on Mt. Everest. She has amassed a wealth of knowledge in treating medical emergencies in harsh environments. She has worked in Yellowstone National Park since 1992, past president of the Wilderness Medical Society and taught medicine courses around the world for 15 years. Gary Matthews, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, in Bozeman, MT, specializes in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Gary is an avid outdoorsman and photographer.
