Jersey City, New Jersey, December 1, 2011 — Following the increasing national trend among young attorneys, 28 year-old attorney Jacob V. Hudnut has launched his own law practice, Hudnut Law, LLC. The firm opened on September 1, 2011 and specializes in criminal defense, civil litigation, personal injury, and providing legal advice to businesses.
The firm is based in Jersey City, where Mr. Hudnut has lived since 2004. “I love living in Jersey City. It’s the most exciting place to be in New Jersey right now. There are so many diverse neighborhoods with a lot to offer, and opening my own business in the Downtown allows me to really be part of that community. I couldn’t say that if I’d joined a big firm in Newark or Manhattan.”
Since the firm’s launch, Mr. Hudnut has appeared before the Hudson County Superior Court on several matters and advised new and existing businesses on legal issues. Mr. Hudnut’s experience in both the private and public sectors affords him unique strategic insight when meeting his clients’ needs. He began his career as Special Assistant to celebrated attorney Angelo Genova, working alongside leaders in business and government while coordinating Mr. Genova’s service as Commissioner of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey. Mr. Hudnut went on to earn his law degree from Seton Hall Law, during which he wrote winning briefs at the trial and appellate levels as law clerk for the prominent personal injury firm of Blume Golfaden. After law school, Mr. Hudnut was appointed law clerk to the Honorable Peter J. Vazquez (Essex Vicinage), the Presiding Judge of New Jersey’s largest criminal division.
The firm is proud to offer competitive rates, increasing access to legal services in the communities it serves. “I have modest overhead as a solo practitioner, which means reasonable rates. These are tough times for everybody, but everyone should be able to afford an advocate when they need one,” says Mr. Hudnut. Mr. Hudnut has been dedicated to serving his community since he was an undergraduate at Montclair State University, where he was twice elected Student Body President.
