Ed Hodgson, internet business mentor with YourNetBiz, was with his wife at the checkout of their nearby supermarket having just completed the household shopping for the week.

All of their shopping had been scanned and bagged and Mr Hodgson was about to pay for the goods using the card from his wallet. Immediately prior to this, Ed Hodgson had handed over his store loyalty card to collect the points due to him, to be collected from the total of the provisions presented for payment.

The points had in fact already been added to the loyalty card when Mr. Hodgson was suddenly attacked.

"It seemed to come from nowhere," Mr Hodgson was quoted.
"One minute I was there, happily paying for my groceries, the next minute I was surrounded and being attacked from all directions. I didn't know what to do, I was just frozen to the spot."

Ed Hodgson was able to give us a detailed description of what then happened. To Mr Hodgson's left was his wife, infront of him was the checkout girl and to his right was another female shopper. Suddenly, Mrs Hodgson questioned why the points were being put on to his card, when she had a perfectly good card in her own name that the points could be added to.

The checkout girl then joined in with the unprovoked attack as she then proceeded to remove the points from Mr Hodgson's card and charge them onto his wife's. This took place after a knowing look was exchanged between the two women.

The third attacker, who had been waiting quietly in place, masquerading as being next in the queue, then jumped into attack. She informed Mrs' Hodgson that the card that Mr. Hodgson held could actually be blocked from redeeming any points held on it, simply by going online.

This final shot came from absolutely nowhere and left Mr Hodgson speechless.

Fortunately, Ed Hodgson escaped virtually unharmed from the attack, other than a few dents to his male ego. The incident had been forgotten about soon after it had happened and would have gone unreported had it not been for Mrs Hodgson who has, just this morning, started reminding him of the incident again by querying why he had gone to use his loyalty card in the first place, knowing that she had one of her own.
