Youth Fitness Catalyst O2 MAX Aids Get Active America! Campaign
Los Angeles-based youth fitness and media company offers participants a passport to get fit and healthy at participating IHRSA clubs nationwide.

Los Angeles, CA, April 25, 2011 – It’s time to get up and move. More than a third of children are overweight or obese in today’s America. Other youth, while not yet in critical danger, have little connection with exercise or sports, which can lead to health problems years down the line.

Santa Monica based youth fitness and media company, O2 MAX, seeks to change that. As a conduit for teens, O2 MAX is supporting the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association’s (IHRSA) Get Active America! campaign.

IHRSA and participating health clubs nationwide are supporting the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition’s (PCFSN) Let’s Move! initiative, aimed at getting America physically active. IHRSA has pledged to bring 50,000 supporters to PCFSN’s goal of one million physically active Americans for Get Active America! and O2 MAX is committed to getting as many youth as possible to participate in this as well!

For American youth, the O2 MAX Youth Fitness Passport, which started as a popular prom program, is an ideal way for youth ages 13-22 to adopt a healthy lifestyle and meet their health and fitness goals. Participants receive daily online coaching, lifestyle support, custom exercise and nutrition plans, and special retail perks. Participants also get to try classes at participating fitness facilities such as Real Ryder, Revolution Fitness, YogaWorks and several other facilities.

O2 MAX will be collaborating with IHRSA clubs that are part of the GAA! campaign, giving participating youths even more fitness facilities to choose from by offering them passports—guest passes—to other participating Get Active America! clubs. In addition, the program includes at-home workouts, online fitness coaching, nutrition plans and special discounts on fashion and beauty items. The cost of the program is $100.

O2 MAX wants youth to realize exercise can be fun – and that fun often comes by realizing what exercises they like, rather than the ones fitness magazines tell them to do. From dance to spin to yoga, the Fitness Passport will truly let teens find their exercise-related passions. The passport is also an ideal way for tweens, teens and college students to discover fitness with the help of an online fitness coach to answer questions and check in with them along the way.

To participate in Get Active America! teens must stay active 5 days a week for at least 6 out of 8 weeks. O2 MAX’s Youth Fitness Passport program begins May 2.
