ZEUS Battery Products Passes UN38.3 Certification and Receives Certificate of Compliance

In order to ensure safe transport of the ZEUS lithium battery product line by air and to meet with customers lithium battery demands for cargo transport, we have developed a "Dangerous Goods Best Practice" for compliance by the local air cargo industry and to meet the United States Code of Federal Regulations. Lithium batteries are considered dangerous because they can take fire or explode during air transport. To ensure the safety of our ZEUS lithium batteries during transport, each item has undergone a rigorous UN38.3 safety inspection. We completed several actions in order to meet the regulations required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and to ensure they are UN38.3 Approved.

The list of safety measures ZEUS Battery Products has undergone includes the following. Custom software systems have been modified to identify lithium products on pick lists, manufacturing documents, and inquiry screens where sales and customer service take orders. Vendor and customer supplied UN38.3 test results are now retained electronically. A hazardous materials security plan has been completed and implemented. Shipping lithium batteries training was completed for office and manufacturing staff in June 2011. ZEUS Employees have completed 49 CFR training provided by Federal Express Corporation. UN Specification packaging has been appropriated for shipment of Prototype and Class 9 lithium batteries.
