March 28, 2003 (Press Release) --
Easy New York City, the Traveler’s Guide to New York City (www.easynewyorkcity.com), reports that its web gallery of popular movie scenes is the most frequently visited page of its tourism website, earning 40 percent more hits than pages featuring more traditional attractions.
Scenes from blockbuster films such as MIB, Big, Superman and more have helped define New York to international travelers everywhere, and have a greater personal appeal to many tourists than many traditional New York City sightseeing landmarks. The movie locations page, at www.easynewyorkcity.com/movielocations.htm, identifies locations where famous movies have been filmed, from classics such as All that Jazz and Ghostbusters to recent productions including You’ve Got Mail and Woody Allen’s Small Time Crooks. The section features 81 movies and more than 150 locations around the City, each with a brief description of the scene that took place.
Each year, approximately 200 movies are shot on location in the City. The New York City Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre & Broadcasting states that, “At any given moment, up to 70 film crews are working on public property throughout the City’s five boroughs.”
Easy New York City provides travel tips and insider’s advice to foreign travelers and ex-patriots. Since its launch in the summer of 2002, site usage has been growing at 50 percent month to month – in part because of unique offerings including the “Movie Locations” page.
