DAVID WAIN TO HELP OPEN POCONO MOUNTAIN FILM FEST
David Wain, will help open festivities at the First Annual Pocono Film Festival. August 13th at 6 PM at the Chateau at camelback.
David Wain was the director, co-writer and co-producer of Wet Hot American Summer, a feature film starring Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Paul Rudd and Molly Shannon, released nationwide theatrically in 2001. It received rave reviews (one of Entertainment Weekly's top ten films of the year) and maintains a loyal growing following on home video.
He has been a director, writer and performer since his 1991 short film Aisle Six won awards at numerous festivals.
David will be premiering Amy Miles music video, which he directed. The video was shot in Quakertown at the Embassy Roller Rink. Background skaters included many Pocono Teenagers - Whitney Hughes Williams, Ashlee Gaughan, Samantha Levitt , Monika Deihl, Kate Michener, Jules Winters, Nicole Santarsiero, Pamela Soviero, Rachel Ferrand, Laura Martone, Denise Galasso, Katie Arbulu, Michelle Arbulu, Alexis Mercer,Jackie Stuppiello, Alexa Walters, Melissa Jacona, Jackie Zeldon, and Laureen Jones. Toni Cusumano Casting, Stroudsburg, did casting & locations.
As a member of the comedy troupe THE STATE from 1988-97, he co-created an award winning and critically acclaimed MTV (and MTV Europe) series, a special for CBS, a book for Hyperion Press, and an album for Warner Brothers. The State also toured the United States and performed their sketch show Molt Off-Broadway. In addition to directing over eighty short films for The State, he served as cast member, supervising producer, writer and editor.
David also a member of STELLA, a comedy trio with Michael Ian Black and Michael Showalter. The Stella nightclub comedy show has played to sell out audiences in New York since its inception in 1997. STELLA has spawned a series of short films, a pilot for VH1, and a new touring show playing venues across the USA.
David has also written, directed and/or performed on other television shows such as Mad TV (Fox), Cosby (CBS), You Wrote It You Watch It, Idiot Savants (MTV), Random Play (VH-1), Sheep in the Big City (Cartoon Network) The Daily Show and Strangers With Candy (Comedy Central) He appears in the films Bamboozeld, Keeping the Faith and the upcoming Untitled John Hamburg Project.
Recently, David wrote the feature "Stolen High School Security Tapes" for Dreamworks and co-wrote two pilots, one for Fox, the other for HBO.
Upcoming projects include They Came Together, a feature film he co-wrote, produced by Shady Acres Entertainment (Bruce Almighty).
David is a graduate of NYU Film School, and a member of the Director's Guild since 1993. He grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and lives in New York.
