Booking Agency Skyline Music launches the AudioSkyline.com online broadcast, web site, and community of music lovers.

National booking agency Skyline Music has just debuted AudioSkyline - an eclectic mix of alternative, roots, and acoustic music broadcast free 24/7 on the internet plus an accompanying web site. “This is our small shot across the bow of corporate homogenized radio,” says Skyline Music founder Bruce Houghton.
The parent company Skyline Music is the exclusive booking agents for such diverse artists as Michelle Shocked, Victor Wooten, The Samples, Roger McGuinn, George Winston, Johnny Winter, 2003 Grammy Winner Solomon Burke and thirty others. “You’ll hear music from our great roster, but you’ll also discover dozens and dozens of other great artists that commercial radio largely ignores,” states Houghton.
The synergies with the agency are obvious, but that’s not really the goal according to Houghton, “This project is not about making money. Everyone here at Skyline are real music lovers; and we got sick and tired of the incredible ‘sameness’ at radio caused by focus groups, tight play lists, consolidation, and stock holder pressures to perform. We were also all excited by the tremendous potential of Internet and satellite radio and decided to jump in and do our part.”
AudioSkyline is streamed via the Live365.com community of more than 5000 mostly non-commercial broadcasters. Daily programs include the lighter “Second Cup Café” morning show, “Cubicle Follies” – an eclectic music mix for the workday, and “Random Madness” - a late night program where the computer literally pick randomly from the stations large and changing music library.
Special weekly programming includes AudioSkyline’s own “New Music Hour” and Indy music showcase “The Studio” produced by Mojo Recording Studios. “The Pirate Radio” show lets celebrity DJ’s and AudioSkyline listeners take over the programming. Pirate Radio’s debut show is an hour of classic soul handpicked by former Warner Brothers VP and current Rattlesby Record president Barney Kilpatrick. The accompanying web site AudioSkyline.com is still in development and is being designed as a supplement to the broadcast where music fans can share their enthusiasm for great new music. It already includes content unique to AudioSkyline as well as from Rolling Stone and others.
“It is certainly hope that we’ll get some support from music fans and our friends in the industry, but more than that I hope this will also encourage them to take some similar risks,” concludes Houghton. “We can all just complain about the lack of exposure that too many great new and established musicians get from the media; or we can each do something about it.”
