August 4, 2003 (Press Release) --
Two New Zealand filmmakers are using a novel approach to raise production money for their film.
Chameleon Films (the production company behind a number of acclaimed and award winning short films) are embarking on their first feature film. They require $100,000 to make the film and are looking to raise a portion of the film’s budget through donations from PayPal account holders.
They realised that there must be thousands of PayPal accounts with just “loose change” sitting there.
“Our aim is to turn that loose change into a film that will succeed at International Festivals and hopefully gain a wider release”.
Donations of any size are greatly received but everybody who donates $3 or more of their loose change to the cause will receive a CREDIT on the film, and will receive periodic updates on the production progress of the film.
Any donations can be made through PayPal to chameleonfilms@paradise.net.nz
