THE INTERNATIONAL PRESS ACADEMY (IPA) ANNOUNCES VAMPIRE FILM SERIES & FESTIVAL IN HOLLYWOOD

(Free-Press-Release.com) September 16, 2003 -- "Near Dark" and "The Hunger" top the film series list for day one of the Vampire Film Series and Festival at the Los Angeles Film School September 27 & 28.

�These films represent the full range of Vampire myth and lore, from the vengeful ruthless creatures of Near Dark to the contemplative seductive characters found in The Hunger. They are also represenative of the action genre as well as the considered drama. In short, they represent everything a Vampire and a film fan could want in a Vampire movie," say series co-director Tim Cogshell.



"Near Dark" (1987) starring Adrian Pasdar, Lance Henriksen is about a mid-western farm boy who reluctantly becomes a member of the undead when a girl he meets turns out to be part of a band of southern vampires who roam the highways in stolen cars.



Screening September 27 at 3:30pm

"The Hunger" (1983) starring Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie, Susan Sarandon is about a centuries-old vampire, who preys on urban clubgoers with her vampire lover John. When John suddenly ages and wastes away, Miriam casts her spell upon Sarah, a doctor who researches premature aging.



Screening September 27 at 6pm



In between the selected film series the IPA will screen the best Vampire film festival entries. "We have received some fascinating looks into the Vampire myths with some very original storylines. We are excited to bring these films to the public and honor these independent filmmakers," added Festival Director, Asif Ahmed.



The IPA will announce festival finalists next week.

Tickets for the film series and festival are now available at www.PressAcademy.com along with the entire schedule. The IPA is urging all attendees and Vampires to participate in the Red Cross Blood Drive and get tickets for a little as $3.50 to the festival screenings.



�Less than 3% of the population donates blood in Los Angeles compared to the national average of 5%. Blood is in short supply in Los Angeles as most of the time we have to import blood from other parts of the country,� offered Julie Juliusson, Communications Manager for the Red Cross.



Festival goes can sign up to donate blood at the Vampire Film Series & Festival website and order the discounted tickets.
