INTERNATIONAL PRESS ACADEMY (IPA) SELECTS VAMPIRE FESTIVAL FILMS
Beverly Hills, CA (Sept. 16, 2003) Tickets now available for Vampire Film Series, Festival and Party. Eight independently produced Vampire films and two feature selections will be screened.

The Vampire Film Series, Festival and Party will screen eight independently produced Vampire films and two feature selections: "Near Dark" and "The Hunger."
The Vampire Film Series & Festival will occur at the Los Angeles Film School September 27 starting at noon.
"We were amazed at how many independently produced Vampire films existed. We received films from all across the country that explored new and original takes on the Vampire myth." -- Tim Cogshell, IPA
PROGRAM 1 VAMPIRE SHORTS (1pm):
"The Hunted" from writer, director, Robert Chapin of Marina del Rey, CA. This action packed Vampire film with martial arts and sword play featuring supporting actors who appeared in the films Mortal Kombat and Highlander. The story follows a Vampire hunter with a reality show twist.
"Mina Seward" from Brooklyn, New York based writer and director Bryan Enk. "Mina Seward" follows a woman who believes New York City is overrun by Vampires and that she has been chosen by God to destroy them.
"Upir" from director Patrick Lenahan and written by Zach Ruderman both based in Washington D.C. This short is the comedic story of a lonely paperboy and is encounter with a beautiful bartender and her collection of gothic partners. The film shot on location in Prague.
"The Evil Basement of Count Worlock" from writing, directing team Brian Smith and Vincent Vinas of New York, NY. This, the only silent film in the festival, spoofs the classic F.W. Murnau film, "Nosferatu," with a modern twist.
PROGRAM 2 VAMPIRE SHORT & FILM SERIES FEATURE (3:30pm)
"Midnight Sun" from writer, director Jason Contino, of Wynnwood, PA, is a stylistic and dramatic short set on the verge of judgement day.
"Midnight Sun" will screen before "NEAR DARK," a midwestern Vampire classic directed by Kathryn Bigelow Starring Adrain Passar, Lance Heindrickson and Bill Paxton.
PROGRAM 3 VAMPIRE SHORT & FILM SERIES FEATURE (6pm)
"Lady Killer," from Burbank, CA based writer, director Walter Boholst. In this short a woman goes home with her date and begins to wonder if he's a Vampire.
"Lady Killer" will screen before "THE HUNGER," which stars Susan Sarandon and David Bowie. Directed by Tony Scott.
PROGRAM 4 VAMPIRE FESTIVAL FEATURE (8:30pm)
"Demon Under Glass" from Los Angeles based director Jon Cunningham and written by Jon Cunningham and D.L. Warner chronicles a government experiment that has succeeded in capturing a Vampire for 'scientific' study.
Tickets for the film series and festival are now available at www.PressAcademy.com along with the entire schedule. The IPA is urging all attendees and Vampires to participate in the Red Cross Blood Drive and get tickets for a little as $3.50 to the festival screenings.
Less than 3% of the population donates blood in Los Angeles compared to the national average of 5%. Blood is in short supply in Los Angeles as most of the time we have to import blood from other parts of the country, offered Julie Juliusson, Communications Manager for the Red Cross.
The festival will culminate with the Vampire Gothic Costume Ball at The Forbidden City, where filmmakers, celebrities and the undead will meet and mingle. (10pm - 2am) The Forbidden City is at 1718 Vine in Hollywood, just a few paces north of Hollywood Blvd.
