September 18, 2003 (Press Release) --
Three UAE athletes put adidas’ new innovations - ClimaCoolâ2 footwear technology – to the ultimate test in the midst of the Middle Eastern swelter.
Athletes Adrian Hayes, Peter MacKenzie and Petra Jerejian – who are also part of the ‘Dubai Road Runners’ running club - regularly train outdoors throughout the year in what is considered among the world’s most harsh climate. This week they put adidas’ ClimaCoolâ2 footwear through its paces during a regular training run.
Dubai-based adidas Emerging Markets Marketing Director Mr Walter Bruppacher said;”ClimaCoolâ2 is an evolution of adidas’ technical innovation which features ventilated ClimaCoolâ technology, a complete ventilation and cooling system that uses angled vents to force air through the shoe, with the air flow increasing in proportion to the intensity of the sporting activity.”
All three athletes agreed that footwear ventilation was one of the highest priorities when training, particularly in this part of the world.
“Increased ventilation is key for your feet particularly when undertaking any form of sport, training or activity in this climate,” said Adrian Hayes.”Cooler and drier feet ultimately guard against blisters and help you to achieve maximum performance. I found them very light and very comfortable.”
Petra Jerejian added: “I noticed that my feet were a lot cooler in these shoes than any others I have used. They were also very light, which was good. I look forward to using these shoes in the future, especially during my triathlons, where I will be able to use them comfortably without socks (reducing my transition times).”
Peter MacKenzie agreed saying: “The first impression I had of the shoe is that they were quite light compared to other brands of shoes. I am always looking for quality shoes that also do not compromise the weight of the shoe. They were very comfortable. I felt as though I was wearing a pair of socks rather than a shoe. I think that the idea of more air flow is excellent in a climate such as Dubai’s.”
About ClimaCool
The evolution of ClimaCoolâ2 was born through extensive testing and analysis of the foot in motion. These shoes offer up to 32% more cooling to the foot than traditional running footwear and a further 12% increase in cooling over the first ClimaCool product.
ClimaCoolâ2 offers the athlete an immediate, noticeable benefit: cooler and drier feet. The angled vents, breathable sandwich mesh, ventilated tongue, increased outsole ventilation areas and breathable sockliner ensure that all areas of the athlete’s foot receive maximum cooling in proportion to the energy being exerted by the athlete.
Made in styles for running, tennis, training, workout, indoor and kids, and developed for both athletes and budding athletes.
