November 21, 2003 (Press Release) --
Buy a Piece of Art on the Web in a Way You Would Normally Purchase Books.
Madrid, Spain (BuySculpture.com) November 21st, 2003 – After months of preparation, Luis Miguel Urrea Guia (and seven fellow Spanish artists) together with Michael Sliwinski of Apivision.com (an Internet marketing company), have officially launched an Internet sculpture shop named BuySculpture.com. They aimed at creating a place where anybody could purchase a piece of authentic contemporary art in the same easy way they buy books in a traditional on-line bookstore.
“I'm a sculptor who loves new technologies and in spite of having a well-developed traditional sales network, I couldn't resist the ease-of-use and worldwide accessibility of the Internet” - says Luis Miguel Urrea Guia, founder of BuySculpture.com - “I always liked the way many Internet bookstores worked – so I said to myself – why can't we sell sculptures the same way?”
“Our sculptures are perfect for the Internet. Not everybody can afford an original piece of art from a gallery and pay thousands of dollars for it. We have developed a technology to create a limited edition of up to 99 pieces of each contemporary sculpture” - says Martin Fiala, Mr Urrea Guia’s export manager - “This lets us lower the price down to a level affordable by most Internet users. People can buy themselves an authentic piece of contemporary art at a reasonable price – and they still buy original art”.
After a long conversation over the phone with Michael Sliwinski, the basic assumptions for the shop have been made. “I immediately checked competitors' websites and I knew we had to prepare a professional Internet store with the friendliest shopping experience possible” - reveals Michael Sliwinski, responsible for the technology and marketing of BuySculpture.com - “we decided to have it all: easy navigation and browsing, comprehensive shopping cart, friendly checkout process and secure on-line credit card validation”.
Yet selling art over the Internet implies an additional challenge. Unlike books, sculptures are 3-dimensional objects and in order to make them more tangible, Mr Urrea Guia decided to prepare special 3D videos for each sculpture. This way potential customers can pick their favorite sculptures, not only judging by the high-quality photo but also by a 3D video which they can view using Windows Media Player or Real Player embedded directly in the shop's website.
BuySculpture.com combines user-friendly Internet shopping experience with authentic contemporary sculptures so that anyone could buy a piece of art in the same way they would normally purchase books.
