December 29, 2003 (Press Release) --
When people ask Clint Pustejovsky what he does for a living, and his reply includes the word “snake,” the reactions are many. Some people say, “Oh I HATE snakes! I can’t even stand to look at a picture of one!” Others use the familiar phrase, “The only good snake is a dead snake.” Clint feels his job is to change both of these mindsets, by educating people about the realities of snakes. “The way to get past fear and apprehension is through education,” Clint says. “People are afraid of snakes and hate snakes because they don’t know enough about them.”
Many people believe that every snake they see is poisonous, but here in Texas, we have over 100 species of non-venomous snakes, and only 4 species of venomous snakes. “If you know how to identify the four species of venomous snakes, then you don’t have to worry about the other hundred non-venomous snakes. It really provides peace of mind to a family to be able to see a snake in their backyard or in the wild and know immediately if it is venomous or non-venomous.”
Clint has a unique and entertaining way of teaching both adults and children about snake safety, the benefits of snakes, and snake identification. He puts on birthday parties for children, which includes some snake education as well as fun with touching and handling several non-venomous snakes. A benefit to these parties is that the parents who attend also receive the snake education. He also provides a more detailed snake identification class for adults. People who have attended his parties and classes often come out feeling much better about snakes. People who used to kill every snake on sight now will just leave the snake alone. People who thought there were no benefits to snakes have an appreciation for the answers snakes are providing to medical research.
Clint is changing minds about snakes one person at a time. And in the process, he is having the time of his life. “I’ve loved snakes since I was a child. Now I get to talk about them and share my passion with others. What could be better than that?”

After seeing a presentation from Mr. Clint "the Snake Man" most people feel more comfortable and less scared of snakes. At the least, they have an appreciation for the many benefits of snakes.
