Snitch San Diego set to release it’s first issue March 31, 2004.
San Diego, CA – January 22, 2004: An extremely popular national crime news publication is gaining momentum with it’s expansion into San Diego. The paper, currently published in Louisville and Lexington, KY, has just entered it’s “pre-sales” phase of operations from it’s new San Diego office. Criminals should run for cover starting March 31, when the paper prepares for distribution to hundreds of locations throughout San Diego. Each issue of the free weekly newspaper will contain a host of interesting crime-related stories, features and columns from San Diego and across the nation.
The local resident responsible for bringing this publication to Southern California is Jan Schwarz, owner and publisher of the Snitch San Diego franchise. “I’m excited about the opportunity to bring the Snitch concept to the San Diego area,” Schwarz said. “I think Snitch’s appeal and successes in Louisville and Lexington, KY, will translate very well to the West Coast. While San Diego is clearly a different market, the appeal of Snitch’s edgy, interesting and provocative crime-oriented content is universal.”
“The attraction to becoming a Snitch franchisee is that the concept is already proven,” continued Schwarz. “Louisville Snitch’s astonishing success, combined with Lexington Snitch’s fantastic start, were key to my decision to bring Snitch to Southern California.”
“Jan’s agreement to become the publisher of the first San Diego Snitch and an Area Developer for San Diego county is another big step in the evolution of this company from a single, local newsweekly to a nationwide chain of newspapers and a national brand,” said Russ Maney, senior vice president of Snitch, LLC, in Louisville. “San Diego Snitch will be a boost to our aggressive expansion plans. The interest in opening Snitch newspapers in other markets is exploding.”
About Snitch San Diego; Snitch, LLC
Market Simple, Inc., of which Schwarz is the principal owner, will be Snitch’s Area Developer for San Diego County and will initially own and operate the first San Diego Snitch. The newspaper will be free to the public and distributed at retail locations such as restaurants, coffee houses and grocery stores throughout San Diego.
Prosperitas Investment Partners, L.P., initially funded Snitch, LLC, publishers of Louisville Snitch and licensor of the Snitch brand and syndicated content, in January 2001. Louisville Snitch launched in July 2001 and became that city’s second-largest newspaper -- with a circulation of 50,000, according to independent audits -- in less than two years.
Snitch, LLC, is negotiating with other entrepreneurs to become Area Developers and launch Snitch newspapers in other markets. It continues to field inquiries from prospective Snitch Area Developers and publishers throughout the country.
