February 5, 2004 (Press Release) --
THE NAILER is a 100% recycled plastic drywall fastener that replaces expensive wood blocking or awkward metal clips in the installation of drywall. Commercial benefits include reduced labor and material cost and an environmentally superior alternative to wood. THE NAILER is manufactured in the U.S. and has managed to change outmoded construction traditions that waste lumber and labor while enabling builders to save money. Top US builders can save millions per year in material costs alone.
At every interior corner (wall to wall or wall to ceiling) additional backing must be installed to provide a fastening surface for all drywall edges. Until the conversion to screwing drywall, expensive lumber was the only alternative. THE NAILER replaces costly wood and is the first builder installed backer designed for drywall fastening with screws. It also replaces metal drywall clips.
Benefits of THE NAILER include substantial savings on material and labor.
Estimated saving for a typical 2000 sq. ft. home using THE NAILER:
Net Material Savings...$210.00+
Labor Savings @ $15/hr...$435.00+
TOTAL...$645.00+
By using less wood in the corners, additional savings occur with electrical and plumbing subcontractors. Since THE NAILER is made from 100% recycled HDPE#2 plastic and replaces valuable lumber it helps conserve the environment.
THE NAILER eliminates corner freezing and cracking by allowing full friction fitting with the installation of fiberglass insulation. Costly call backs due to truss uplift are also eliminated.
“THE NAILER is one of those simple and easy to use tools that has a far reaching effect on both the environment and the builder’s bottom lines”, says Andy Pizer, the inventor and president, Millennium Group. “Top U.S. builders can literally save millions of dollars per year and the small contractor can get an edge on their competitors with savings in time and material. We are finally seeing the construction industry embrace environmental issues and show a willingness to trust new products and procedures. Our clients include Habitat for Humanity, whose affiliates understand the benefits of making a job easier, saving money, and helping the environment simultaneously.”
Inventor Andy Pizer and his partner Jinx Davis founded The Millennium Group in 1994. The company distributes The Nailer and serves as a technology center in northern Colorado offering custom computers, networking, graphic design, marketing and fiber-optics.
