February 19, 2004 (Press Release) --
Nashua, NH. Cepoint Networks 16-bay R-STOR RAID Storage subsystem is a power horse, delivering more punch and high performance at far less price than similar systems from big players like EMC and IBM. Cepoint began shipping its 4TB, 16-bay Fault-Tolerant 3U (Model Rx316) RAID system in December 2003. For quite some time now, IT managers and systems administrators have worried about compatibility issues of any new system with their current infrastructures and, any future growth requirements. Cepoint Networks' R-STOR Plug-and-Play shared array storage characteristics and its Operating System independence, makes this RAID system totally transparent in most environments. Cepoint's R-STOR is one of the few Enterprise RAID storage system that easily supports multiple operating systems such as; Microsoft Windows 2000 / NT4.0/XP/Me, Red Hat Linux 6.2 or later, HP-UX 11.0 or later, IBM AIX 4.3.3 or later, Microsoft Windows 95/98, Apple Mac OS 8.0 or later, UnixWare 7.1.1, SCO Open Server 5.0.5, SunSoft Solaris 7, making the system the most adaptable storage solutions for most enterprise computing, telephony and VoIP applications in Windows, Linux, or Unix environments. Rx316 is configurable with up to 4TB storage capacity, using 16 x 250GB Serial-ATA hard drives, and has option of SCSI or dual 2GB/s Fibre-Channel Host interface with up to 400MB/s data rate, and support for FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop), point-to-point, switched fabric topology. The server version has iSCSI host interface option as well.
For IT managers interested in disk-to-disk storage or disk-to-tape storage back-up implementation is simple, since SCSI-FCP (SCSI-Fibre Channel), IP, and FC-Tape protocols are supported.
Model Rx316 features RAID levels 0, 1, 0 +1, 5 and JBOD and starts from under $9,000
