FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) February 27, 2004 --
The Performance Management Group announced today that it will provide Six Sigma training and consulting services specifically for the Telecommunications industry. Now telecom companies can benefit from Six Sigma training and consulting that is simple and effective, says Gerald Taylor, President and Managing Consultant of TPMG.
What was once only considered to be a management practice for manufacturing companies is having a powerful impact in the ways service organizations are designing and delivering services to their customers.
Launched in early 2001, Six Sigma has enabled JPMorgan Chase to reduce flaws in its customer-facing processes such as account opening, payment handling and checkbook reordering. Within 1 year they have measurably increased customer satisfaction and improved their overall operating efficiency & cycle times by well over 30%. (Source: American Banker)
Bank of America spokesman Bob Stickler said the implementation of Six Sigma has helped the bank reduce by 80% the paperwork associated with mortgage underwriting, cut the number of days it takes to make a loan, and minimized errors in processing checking accounts.
The typical Six Sigma project in healthcare has delivered an average of $500,000 in annualized savings.
Six Sigma enables companies to become process perfect in its delivery of services, says Gerald Taylor. This is very important to telecom companies who try to satisfy demanding customers that want their services installed yesterday. It is also very good for them in that the sooner they can install their customers, the sooner they can bill them and recognize revenue. That has a powerful impact on the value they can derive from their assets!
Six Sigma in telecom is especially potent in that it is proven to be a powerful driver in eliminating rework, process bottlenecks and duplications of efforts that can injure customer relationships and choke profitability. Sridhar Seshadri, a professor of operations management at New York University says, "on average, the amount of lost revenue as a result of poor service quality runs as high as 50% of total costs associated with delivering those services.
The Performance Management Group was the very first firm to provide Six Sigma Training and Consulting Services to service companies and has been doing so for almost a decade. While everyone else was focusing on manufacturing, we concentrated on industries such as telecommunications, financial services, healthcare and the like, says Terrill Robertson, Director of Business Development for TPMG.
We are excited about the telecom industry. In the past we have been very successful at working with companies like Dynegy Global Communications, there Asian partner Reach Communications, Logix Communications, Telseon IP Services (now part of ONFIBER Communications) and PacWest Telecom, says Terill. We look forward to great relationships with wireless carriers, CLECS, incumbents, as well as long haul providers.
