Italy House Scout can be found on the Web at http://www.italyhousescout.com/. Its founder, Sheila Leavitt, M.D., is a Buyer's Agent and consultant for Americans and other English-speaking clients who wish assistance in finding and purchasing property in Italy. Various services are offered: an initial consultation helps clients refine their ideas as to the specific property they seek, both in terms of building type and locale (immediate and regional). Also, the initial consultation answers questions about the purchase process; prices for different regions/property types; costs of taxes, restoration, if needed, etc. Italy House Scout can do on-line or in-Italy property searches for clients, and will then investigate properties deemed by the client to be likely possibilities. These on-site investigations culminate in a report for each property studied, including many digital photos, house plans, detailed summary of the property and the surroundings, etc.
If a property is purchased, Italy House Scout can often act as Buyer's Agent, thus recouping some or all of the fees for the preceeding services from the Buyer's agency fee, which otherwise would be payable to the Listing Broker in Italy.
