W. Hollywood, CA. at the World Famous Formosa Café (7156 Santa Monica Blvd. in West Hollywood, CA 90046) Sunday, April 11th, 2004, 8PM, FREE ADMISSION.
Boricua Films presents the Los Feliz Poetry Slam where the nation's top slam poets compete and perform original Spoken Word poems in an attempt to secure a spot on the Los Feliz Poetry Slam Team. The Los Feliz Poetry Slam team is one of only three official Poetry Slam Incorporated (PSi) poetry slam teams in Southern California. PSi is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization.
Come see well-known poets that have been featured on HBO’s Def Poetry, The Fly Poet Showcase, Da Poetry Lounge and Urban Graffiti TV show. The evening is complete with GUEST PERFORMANCES, a SET SLAM, an OPEN SLAM, COMEDY by Third Floor: Los Angeles and sound mixes by DJ Autreyu. Guests will enjoy a 21 and older environment, full Bar and full dinner menu.
The Los Feliz Poetry Slam is hosted by Dufflyn Lammers. Dufflyn is a published poet and has been featured on Russell Simmons' Def Poetry Jam on HBO and a recurring competitor in the Urban Graffiti TV Show as well.
About the venue: Frequented by just about every movie star in Hollywood. The Formosa Cafe is the nearest restaurant / bar to the historic Warner Hollywood Studios. Event today the Cafe is a popular "industry" watering hole, especially after dark. Stars still always show up at the Formosa, and not just when they are filming. In March, Ben Stiller was spotted at The Formosa during the Los Feliz Poetry Slam!
