Professor of Biblical Studies and Theology, 1976; B.A., John Brown University; M.Div., Th.M., Talbot Theological Seminary; Ph.D., Fuller Theological Seminary.

Dr. Pierce, recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award, the Dean's Incentive Award and the President's Award, specializes in Old Testament studies, Israel in the Middle East and gender roles in the church. He has written articles for International Standard Bible Encyclopedia, the Journal of the Evangelical Theological Society, Bulletin of Biblical Research and Trinity Journal. Dr. Pierce wrote study notes for Haggai, Zechariah and Malachi for the New American Standard Study Bible. In 1987 he initiated the Biola Israel program, an intensive interterm undergraduate study tour of the Holy Land. Dr. Pierce also developed the Old Testament Interactive instructional assistance program, MacIsrael, to teach the history, geography and biblical literature of Israel.
