The Free Egyptians supports Sharon's withdrawal plan and hails Bush's endorsement of it since another opportunity for peace and for a practical solution to the Palestinian problem will never present itself so long as the anti-peace Arafat, Mubarak, Assad and the Saudi royals remain in power.
Throughout history, dictators made the threat of an invasion by a neighboring country an excuse for the enslavement of their people. For the past 50 years, the West has failed to realize that autocratic, brutal, avaricious, power-hungry, corrupt and self-serving Arab rulers, though claiming to seek peace and solution to the Palestinian problem, have in fact been making sure that the Arab-Israeli conflict remains without any solution because this very conflict is instrumental of their enslavement of the downtrodden Arab peoples. Therefore, those Arab rulers will continue to reject or sabotage any peace plan. Furthermore, they will continue to orchestrate anti-peace, anti-American and anti-Israeli propaganda so that the Arab people are rendered too hateful of Israel and the United States to endorse . Also, Arab dictators will continue to make a point of provoking Israel through instigating terrorist attacks and acquiring WMD into taking military actions against the Palestinians and Arab countries. In addition, unelected and self-imposed, Arab dictators make up for their lack of legitimacy through the promotion of conflict with Israel and the compounding of the security problem in the region.
The road to peace and security in the region, therefore, will begin once the existing Arab dictator regimes are replaced by democratic and legitimated ones. To help achieve that end, it is imperative first that the West impose harsh sanctions against and freeze all assets of Arafat, Mubarak, Assad and the House of Saud.
