MEMSense today announced the commercial releases of the TriRate product family. The TriRate the worlds smallest Triaxial angular rate sensor. Advancements in design and packaging enabled MEMSense to develop a very small sensor. Five stacked nickels is the area the sensor consumes leaving customers valuable board space to reduce product size and cost or add additional features.
Even with the small size the TriRate exhibits comparable or improved performance characteristics to much larger devices. A dynamic range from +/- 150 to +/-1200 degrees/second and small offset drifts meet the specifications of some of the most challenging applications.
MEMSense is a South Dakota corporation principally located in Rapid City. It is owned and managed by its principals, James Brunsch, Christopher Konvalin and George Nelson. The Genesis Venture Capital Fund, a local venture capital fund, has provided early-stage financing for the company.
James Mirehouse, Chief Executive Officer of Genesis, has high hopes for the company. “We became interested in financially assisting this company not only because of its technology, which we thought would provide some meaningful economic development for Rapid City, but also because of its people,” said Mirehouse. “The company is well managed and has hired six local engineers, most from the School of Mines. Often we hear of South Dakota’s brain drain, how the state’s educated young people funnel out of state for good-paying jobs. This company is an example of how this trend can be reversed. We are happy to contribute to its success.”
Qualvox Corporation was formed October 31, 2001, initially as an independent consulting firm, providing unbiased solutions for software engineering, electronics engineering, and project management. Doing business as MEMSense, the Company is now primarily focused on the research, development and production of precision inertial sensors and systems based on Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology. It is headquartered in Rapid City, SD. More information on the Company can be found by visiting its website at www.memsense.com.
