New Guerilla Pro-Life Campaign Offers Solutions
Author Fred Martinez, former producer and TV show host of the Latino Love program, has been experimenting for some time with a guerilla campaign to save unborn babies. It's a crusade of home visiting.
"Having been a crisis pregnancy center director and sidewalk counselor, I think a pro-life campaign using techniques that work in our video culture could be helpful. But, the most importance thing to remember is that methods without Christ are a waste of time," Martinez said.
"In our video age people have a 30-second attention span. Television has made it impossible to keep anyone's attention without a visual effect. So, our home-visiting program has created a 30-second commercial using a model of an unborn baby as a visual prop"
The central purpose of the recited 30-second presentation is to identify the unborn child with the Jesus Child.
The inspiration for the program came when the author was a sidewalk counselor in San Jose, California. In front of an abortion clinic, a female Planned Parenthood employee proclaimed herself a Christian to him. So, he asked her if she would abort the unborn Jesus.
She said," I would."
Shocked, he just walked away from her fanaticism to think. He knew that mainstream America would not be willing to kill the unborn baby Jesus.
In two model programs, one in California and the other in New Mexico, over 2,000 homes were visited with 90 to 95 percent saying "yes" to the pro-life message.
The home-visiting campaign can be "the guerilla answer to the problem of saving unborn babies without provoking harassment or a hostile reaction" from the staunchly pro-abortion establishment according to the author.
In this model program, three volunteers going out a couple of hours a week visited 1,000 home in six months. "Imagine if there were 3,000 to 30,000 volunteers across the nation. In six months we could visit 1 million to 10 million homes. Imagine if tens of millions identified the unborn baby with Jesus. Abortion would be doomed first in America then worldwide," Martinez said.
"Remember that identifying the unborn baby Jesus with all unborn babies is true because Jesus said,’ Whatever you do to the least of my brethren you do to me.’ Remember if we can convert tens of millions to identify the unborn baby with Jesus then abortion will be doomed first in America then on a worldwide basis."
The author hopes that those involved with sidewalk counseling, crisis pregnancy centers (One crisis pregnancy center in California doubled the number of women coming to their center when they used the door-to-door campaign.) or any other pro-life activity will bring home-visiting to their area and neighborhood.
The apostles in the infant Church went to the homes to teach (Acts 5:42). Others have been going door-to-door for years according to the author. Martinez said he is "praying that the pro-lifers from the neighborhoods to the under-funded organizations" will respond to his scripturally-inspired campaign.
