May 2, 2004 (Press Release) --
Carlsbad, California - This year’s Presidential election will be decided by a piece of pie if the owner of the "Decadence" bakery has it's way. Dennis Dickson plans to carry on a family tradition that started 128 years ago in Dumfries Scotland. The first candidate to accept a piece of plaidberry pie from the hands of Dickson's great grandfather Henry Dickson, would win the election. That tradition started in 1876 and held true for 14 years in Dumfries, until 1890 when Henry immigrated to Canada.
Dennis Dickson who still bakes the plaidberry pies in Carlsbad, California will continue that tradition for the first time in the United States. Dickson claims that either candidate, whether it be George Bush, or John Kerry, who first accepts a piece of plaidberry pie from my hands, will win the 2004 presidential election.
The race for the pie will officially start on May 6th, at 8:00 am. Dickson concludes, “any candidate who says they are running for President should start doing so literally.
