New Online Magazine Celebrates the Unique Character of Northern New England

Keene, NH � Freelance writer and New Hampshire resident, Marcia Passos Duffy, has launched a monthly online magazine, The Heart of New England.com, a free publication that celebrates the unique people, places and products of the northern New England states of Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. The magazine also has a free companion weekly e-newsletter that visitors to the website can subscribe to by sending a blank email to heartofnewengland-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

The Heart of New England.com attracts visitors from all over the country � and the world � who want to learn more about travel, gardening, bed and breakfast establishments, real estate, recipes and home-grown products from northern New England. Articles are written by Duffy, freelance travel writers, several New England-based writers and journalists, as well as her husband, Jim, who writes �The Arts� page. �This is a collaborative effort by people who love this region,� Duffy says. In addition to its monthly features, the website contains a book store, a �dream house of the month� feature, and a Marketplace section which accepts advertising for high-quality northern New England products such as maple syrup and lobsters, and will be adding more products each month as its list of advertisers increase.



The Heart of New England�s free e-newsletter, published every Wednesday morning, goes out via email to subscribers. The newsletter publishes a weekly calendar of events for the three states, as well as lodging specials, contests and sweepstakes, New Englander thrifty tips, gardening and other advice.

Duffy, who has lived in Keene, NH for the past 10 years with her husband and two children, has been a freelance and commercial writer for 20 years. Her foray into publishing has been a dream since she started her writing career. Her second dream has been to promote the region that her and her husband selected after an exhaustive search for a good place to raise their family.



�Northern New England is not just ski resorts and fall foliage,� Duffy says. �This area embodies so much of what people in America are looking for today�It has a deep history, a strong sense of community. It�s a place where the houses aren�t all empty during the day, where you know your neighbors, and where the kids ride their bikes and scooters on the sidewalk�I�m hoping that The Heart of New England website captures what this region is all about.�
