After the Box Office daybu of the film "The day After Tomorrow", plans are in teh works for its Prequel - "The Day Before Yesterday".

After The Day After Tomorrow's four-day tally will rank as the second-best Memorial Day weekend opening ever after The Lost World and will slightly edge last year's Bruce Almighty which premiered to $85.7M over the long weekend on its way to $242.8M. The three-day sum is the third-best in studio history for Fox trailing the sequels X2: X-Men United ($85.6M) and Star Wars Episode II ($80M) which were also May bows. Critics were not too kind, but audiences rushed to theaters for two hours of Mother Nature-induced thrills.
In light of this Fox has already begun plans for the making of "The Day Before Yesteday", Which sources say is a Prequel to the Memorial Day Box Office Smash.
In The original, "The Day After Tomorrow", the movie takes a big-budget, special-effects-filled look at what the world would look like if the greenhouse effect and global warming continued at such levels that they resulted in worldwide catastrophe and disaster, including multiple hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes (I don't quite get the science of that one), tidal waves, floods and the beginning of the next Ice Age. At the center of the story is a paleoclimatologist (a scientist who studies the ways weather patterns changed in the past), Professor Adrian Hall (Quaid), who tries to save the world from the effects of global warming while also trying to get to his son, Sam (Gyllenhaal), who was in New York City as part of a scholastic competition, when the city was overwhelmed by the chilling beginnings of the new Ice Age. In addition to all of the other challenges Dr. Hall faces, he's also going against the flow as humanity races south to warmer climes, and he's nearly the only one going north... (Rossum plays another student, and Gyllenhaal's romantic interest; Ward plays Quaid's wife and Gyllenhaal's mother; Serrano plays Quaid's boss).
Many critics are starting to say that there just wasnt enough film in the reel to portray the film as it should, and so in the footsteps of George Lucas, Fox Entertainment steps. Prmomissing the full story of how the story unfolds.
