June 8, 2004 (Press Release) --
Hush Communications Corporation, the leading provider of managed secure email and storage solutions, announces the addition of document sharing to its Hushmail web-based email service (http://www.hushmail.com). This new feature allows users to upload files of up to 20 megabytes in size to their Hushmail accounts and choose to allow other users to access them. In addition, they can allow other users to upload and delete files. The service is available with 2 megabytes of storage space at no charge, and additional storage is available for a fee.
All documents are protected by full strength 2048-bit encryption and verified by digital signatures. This level of security is maintained throughout the sharing process, using Hush’s patented technology to ensure that the data is never exposed on the server. As such, users can rest assured that the documents they store are accessible only to those to whom they grant access.
Hush expects that this new functionality will prove valuable to businesses requiring document collaboration functionality in a secure environment. As such, document sharing is also being offered as part of the Hushmail Business service. Hushmail Business is a managed service, which makes the security and features of Hushmail available at a domain of the customer’s choosing. Hushmail Business also offers advanced administrative tools, allowing the customer to customize the user interface and manage the users of the domain.
Hush Communications has been providing the Hushmail.com and related secure messaging services for more than five years, during which time it has proven itself as the most trustworthy provider of encrypted web-based email. Hush has continually enhanced the existing Hushmail service, adding features such as unlimited email aliases, encryption key export, and an advanced challenge-response Spam Control system. Hushmail for Outlook allows direct integration between Hushmail.com and the world’s most popular email software. Hush Secure Forms allows users to connect their web sites securely to their Hushmail accounts. Hush Messenger provides a completely private instant messaging solution. All Hush software and services conform to the OpenPGP standard for secure messaging.
"Hush fills an extremely important need for highly secure messaging services that can be easily understood by users and deployed quickly," said Brian Smith, CTO of Hush Communications. "Individuals find our services as easy to use as their non-secure equivalents. Organizations can adopt our services immediately and on whatever scale they need without rethinking their entire IT infrastructure."
