CalendarGo - Add Calendaring Capabilities to Your .NET Programs

July 10th 2004 - ComponentGo company announces a release of version 1.0 of Resource Scheduler control and CalendarGo 3.0 control for .NET. Both facilitate adding Outlook-like timetables and calendars to your applications royalty-free.

Resource Scheduler builds on ComponentGo’s popular CalendarGo control, adding a second dimension to a full-featured calendar holding enough text to describe your appointments adequately and display them in a visually attractive way. Now you can assign appointments to resources such as hotel rooms, employees etc and create a Gantt chart. From a programmer’s point of view access to source code is also desirable. Resource Scheduler and CalendarGo 3.0 share a common base class and fill these requirements for a .NET platform and Microsoft Visual Studio.

“Resource Scheduler is a natural extension of our CalendarGo control. It is based on same design principles: fully functional, but cheap at the expense of bells and whistles programmers and users alike find unnecessary” – said Ernest Boron, a developer from a CalendarGo team. “As a developer I want to get as much functionality as I can, while people at the finance department will hesitate before spending hundreds of dollars on a component that is not a part of core functionality of an application. We follow Einstein’s advice, and make our controls ‘simple, but not too simple’, certainly affordable, fully programmable and extensible”.

Both CalendarGo and Resource Scheduler are fully managed code written in 100% C#, seamlessly integrate with Visual Studio and can be used from any CLR language. Calendars can display any number of days and resources differentiating workdays from weekends and working hours from non-working hours using separate colors. Appointments can be marked as whole-day, and consist of several linked segments. All aspects of a calendar’s appearance can be controlled including size, border colors, selected day and appointment color, working and non-working hour color, the first and the last working hour and granularity of time displayed (from 1 hour to 5 minutes, with 1 day and half day resolutions added for a Resource Scheduler). The demo now shows how to store/ retrieve data to/from an ADO.NET dataset and a Web service.
