�After two car wrecks, a robbery, and a death threat or two back in New York, within a week of completing the debut album� my focus was still on the music. The focus is always on the music.� Scoff if you will, but Mark Paradiso, multi-instrumentalist (at age 22, he currently has mastered 14 instruments and is tinkering with a fifteenth), co-producer and co-writer of Cynix knows the pitfalls of bands �gone wrong�. And he should; NYC natives and new modern rockpop/electronic band mainstay, Cynix, has been dealt quite a bizarre hand in the short amount of time they have been around. Built from the ashes of a few of NYC�s most popular bands gone wrong, Cynix has a story that would rival any Oscar-winning screenplay. Fronted by petite powerhouse Karen Xerri (23), who has been dabbling in and out of NY stage, film, and literary journals for most of her young life and completed by Jazz-rooted Rick Donato on Drums and percussion, the threesome has released the anticipated debut album, Dirty Laundry, under their own label, Playground Productions (NY/LA) and is set in full gear to promote with the West Coast Dirty Laundry Tour. The tour, which includes stops in most major cities in California will include a special performance with 80s legend, Bow Wow Wow in San Francisco and conclude with a proverbial bang at LA�s famed Whisky a Go-Go on August 8.

Though young, these three have more life experience than anyone should and perhaps that proves a certain age-old correlation between life and soul and music. And maybe not. They may snicker. But what can be said for certain is that the album Cynix has produced from their humble NYC studio is highly unique, highly addictive, has seduction oozing from the layer upon layer of carefully calculated beats and a full range of emotion which is seriously lacking in most many albums today and yet still manages to appeal to the mainstream. And in a big way, it seems. The Clear Channel�s New Music Network hailed the new fusion as �electronica, modern/alternative, and rockpop with slight influences drawn on jazz and bossa-nova. The result is a sexy pumping groove with some really catchy hooks.... " Labels aside, there�s passion in this group. There�s passion in the music. There�s passion in the lyrics. The real substance here is in fact, the music. It will hit you like PJ Harvey, or Patti Smith, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs or Portishead, but with the mainstream appeal of say, Coldplay. "Xerri's unique vocal style is quite impressive. For such a small girl, this little vixen produces an amazingly powerful sound that is controlled and hauntingly seductive. Xerri's lyrics are filled with cunning witticisms and more than a small dose of rage. The marriage of music and lyrics will leave you more than impressed�.

But these three young ones with their virtuoso street smarts, quiet sarcasm, and a debut album that has been hailed one which has �all the makings of a pop culture hit and still manages to bring something new to the table�, are heading to California for the Dirty Laundry West Coast Tour.
