The announcement of the release of S. C. Lomax’s debut book, The Case of Barry George.
For_Immediate_Release:

June 30, 2004 (Press Release) -- Chesterfield, UK, June 30, 2004 -- On the evening of 2 July 2001, S. C. Lomax was watching a televised reconstruction of the trial of Barry George, who had stood accused of the murder of the television presenter Jill Dando. The programme was to create a major interest about the case in his mind.

Although the case is British it has implications across the globe and will be of interest to true crime fans and those interested in the justice system.

In April 1999 Dando had been brutally murdered, in broad daylight, outside her home in London, England. A single bullet had been fired into the side of her head.

The shooting sparked one of the largest police investigations ever held in Britain, with up to fifty detectives working full-time and spending approximately £2,000,000 in the course of the year long search for Dando’s killer.

In April 2000 Barry Michael George was arrested in connection with the offence and, in July 2001, George was convicted, by a majority, at the Old Bailey in London, of the murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment, having been told that he was “unpredictable and dangerous.”

The evidence against George was described as “compelling”, yet the case of Barry George remains one of the most controversial in British criminal history.

After conducting detailed research into the case S. C. Lomax became convinced that George was not the man responsible for this crime. He felt compelled to write a book discussing all of the evidence so that the public could learn the truth about this case.

The Case of Barry George is the first book which presents the facts and argues that an innocent man has been incarcerated for a crime he could not possibly have committed.

From S. C. Lomax: “The Case of Barry George aims to show that a man has been condemned to life imprisonment for a crime he simply did not commit. I hope that this book demonstrates that the evidence in this case in no way proved that Barry George was responsible for the murder of Jill Dando. The evidence used against him at trial was highly contentious and I believe that all should be concerned by this case. People should be concerned because if Barry could be convicted on evidence of the weakest nature, then the frightening reality is that anyone could find themselves becoming the victim of a miscarriage of justice.”

The Case of Barry George is published by Kempton Marks and is available in paperback format, priced at $12.99 (US) and is available through www.authorsonline.co.uk, www.kemptonmarks.com, www.amazon.com and www.amazon.ca and all other Amazon websites. The book is also available as an E-book, details of which can be found at www.authorsonline.co.uk
