Brooklyn-based independent record label to present local acts, including Crystal Brandt and Satirius Johnson, on Sunday nights.
For_Immediate_Release:

July 8, 2004 (Press Release) -- July 7, 2004 -- Brooklyn, NY -- Mungler Winslowe Records is proud to announce their residency at Piano's in New York City. The series begins Sunday, August 1, 2004 and occurs weekly on August 8, 15 and 22. Each event runs for one hour beginning at 7:30 pm and admission is free.

Presented in one of Manhattan's most popular and intimate venues, the residency aims to highlight the music of Mungler Winslowe artists. Crystal Brandt will perform at 8 pm each night of the series and Satirius Johnson will perform at 7:30 pm on August 1 and 15. The Feverfew and Corn Crop and the Seven Donkeys will perform at 7:30 pm August 8 and 22, respectively.

Founded in Brooklyn in 2002, Mungler Winslowe Records is a Brooklyn-based independent record label and home to a diverse roster of artists. Music styles range from acoustic singer-songwriter to garage rock and metal punk.

About the performers:

Crystal Brandt's third full-length album, Voter, is slated for a late summer 2004 release on Mungler Winslowe Records.

"In the move from rural Maryland to Brooklyn, N.Y., Crystal Brandt's music took on a late-night funkiness which blends jazz, rock, and contemporary folk. Brandt's vocals possess a brassy authority - you know that no matter what the material, she owns it." Sing Out!, Summer 2004.

"Crystal Brandt's smooth, earthy voice and smart, wordy songs suggest Fiona Apple at certain times, Natalie Merchant at others." Time Out New York, July 2004.

Satirius Johnson is Casey Brandt (guitars/vocals), Alistair Wallace (guitar/vocals) and Bruce Engel (drums). "...glides through genres such as folk, country, psycho-billy and good ol' fashioned rock and/or roll with ease. [The music is] perplexing, like Beck meeting Bob Dylan and The Cramps while talking about Guided By Voices and how cool The Dead Milkmen were on their first three albums." The Neus Subjex, May 2004.

The Feverfew is Bethany Walk-Spiers with help from Jonathon Linaberry. The new full-length album, Apparitions, is due out this fall on Eyeball Records.

Corn Crop and the Seven Donkeys is the creation of Don Doherty. A full-length album is in the works and slated for an early 2005 release. Corn Crop's debut recording, "Hey Pop/Health Department" has been called "...a bizarre rock record with equal flashes tomfoolery and brilliance..." Indieville, November 2003.

Piano's is located at 158 Ludlow Street, New York, NY 10002, telephone (212) 505-3733.
