CANCER RECOVERY FOUNDATION OF CANADA TO BENEFIT FROM ONTARIO WOMAN’S TEAR DROP SCARVES
In conjunction with the Canadian and American Cancer Recovery Foundation, SheepStrings will help comfort those who have or are continuing to battle cancer. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of all Teardrops Scarf Kits as well as from the sale of finished Teardrops Scarves will be donated to the Canadian and American Cancer Recovery Foundation to assist in the recovery process of cancer patients.
SheepStrings owner, Karen Lawrence, wants to help others fighting cancer in honor of her father, who died suddenly from lung cancer in January. “ Our last day together was spent in the hospital and as I sat close to him I began to knit as I always do when in need of comfort. As the sun set, ‘Teardrops’ had materialized, not from any pattern, but just as the stitches seemed destined to come together, and my father had quietly slipped away. I feel that he inspired its creation,” said Lawrence.
For months now, “Teardrops” has been displayed in her store in Huntsville, Ontario, begging Lawrence to find its purpose. Many have encouraged her to sell it, but she felt it was her last connection her father.
“The original will always be mine, but as time has passed, the purpose that Dad inspired has come to life, not only in his memory, but also in the memories and hopes of many others,” added Lawrence.
The mission of Cancer Recovery Foundation is to help all people prevent and survive cancer. Founded by 20-year lung cancer survivor, Greg Anderson, the Foundation reaches out to cancer patients and their families with messages to help treat the whole person by changing diet, lifestyle and attitude.
“My hope is that in some small way we can help conquer cancer together and that the Teardrops Scarf will bring as much comfort to all those who are or who have suffered, as it has to me,” said Lawrence.
