First Annual Urban Gospel Industry Awards Winners Announced
The first annual Urban Gospel Industry Awards Show was held on Saturday, July 17th at the Riverside Convention Center. The show was co- hosted by former UPN star Cee Cee Michaela and featured performances by Tiffany Laing, Sean Slaughter, Al LaFons George, Michelle Bonilla, Eastwood, Jason Bitten, Sackcloth Fashion, and Small Frie.
Also on hand to present awards were Juanita Fletcher, Lee Jerkins, David Golden, IDOL King, and TRUTH Entertainment. Pastor Larelle Kelly honored Timothy A. Smith and Adele "Dee" Fortier in a special tribute to the two Radio Personality/Program of the Year Award nominees, both of whom passed earlier this year.
The award was also named the Tim Smith Award in his honor
Nominees were submitted by the general public via a write in ballot at www.UrbanGospelAlliance.com. The top 5 who received votes in each were then added to official ballot and then voted on by members of the Urban Gospel Alliance and UGI conference attendees.
