August 2, 2004 (Press Release) --
INDEPENDENT ARTIST HOSTS ONLINE ART SHOW AND AUCTION FOR COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS AND SOCIAL RESEARCH.
Antoine, artist, community activist and social scientist, is hosting a new kind of fundraiser in 2004 - an Online Art Show and Fundraising Auction featuring his original works. Visitors can browse and enjoy the collection from their own home or office. They can also place an offer immediately on the painting of their choice through a simple email. Offers will be accepted until December 03, 2004, after which the winners will be announced. The event is hosted and sponsored by Tal-Herba.Net
The auction will feature over sixty original works by Antoine. Each painting has a starting value of $1000. Antoine will also offer to create a limited number of custom works for $2000 each piece in benefit of the fundraiser.
“My creations are inherently a form of expressed psychological activity that feeds off my work as a student and as a person. I use artistic movement as a primary and direct manifestation, communication and reflection of a state of being, the state of affairs in the immediate environment around me and a selection of drifting themes in society.” Antoine
Past charity work and events organized by Antoine include years of community work with the National Association of Black Women Scholars, with no salary, and more notably the “SMILES Project” (2002), an International Toy Drive*, benefiting financially and emotionally disadvantaged children, which drew over 1000 donations.
All proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit social programs and research.
• 50% of each sale will be donated to Community Based Organizations (CBO)**.
• 50% will support research in social learning***

*** This project is being carried out as part of the A. Spiteri’s PhD dissertation at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland, in the School of Psychology. The goal of this research is to explore and document partners’ relationships with observers, the social exchanges that occur between them and the lines along which skills and knowledge are channeled in primate groups.
