SIX YEAR OLD TORTOISE SHARES HIS BIRTHDAY WITH WILDLIFE CENTER

(Free-Press-Release.com) August 9, 2004 -- Harleysville, PA; Saturday, August 14, 2004 10am-4pm � Fins, Feathers, Paws & Claws, Inc. will be opening up their store to celebrate the birthday of their resident African Spurred Tortoise named Percy. In lieu of gifts to Percy, everyone has been asked to bring a donation to the Schuylkill Wildlife Center. Throughout the day, the public will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of activities and refreshments. Activities will include a petting zoo, a special tortoise exhibit, games, prizes and a chance to meet some of Percy�s friends from the Schuylkill Wildlife Center.

The Schuylkill Center has opened up its doors to nearly 50,000 Philadelphia area residents each year to explore the natural world. The Center offers a variety of outdoor and indoor natural history and environmental programs for all ages. At Percy�s Birthday Party, guests will have an opportunity to meet some of the wildlife residents from the Schuylkill Center and learn more about their programs.

�I have always had a great appreciation for the work that wildlife centers such as the Schuylkill Center have done over the years, helping the animals through education and rehabilitation,� Tom Herron, store owner said. �It only made sense that in celebrating Percy�s birthday, we share his birthday with the Schuylkill Wildlife Center.�



Herron explains that one of the primary goals at the store has always been to educate customers about how to properly care and provide for pet animals. It only seems appropriate that on Percy�s Birthday that same care and educational opportunity is extended to the wildlife.

Herron says, �We hope that everyone enjoys the day and has a chance to take part in the many activities that we will be offering. In addition to our special guests from the Wildlife Center, we have a petting zoo, a special exhibit featuring 5 different species of tortoises, some great refreshments, prizes and we are also offering 15% off the entire pet store.
