FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Free-Press-Release.com) August 15, 2004 -- (Salem, MA August 15, 2004)— Award-winning New England author, inventor, educator, and entrepreneur Richard M. Wainwright will be making appearances at several local events, including a book signing on September 9 in Providence, RI to support the Tomorrow Fund at Hasbro Hospital, an organization that provides financial support to children with cancer and their families.

Richard M. Wainwright is an award-winning author who has written and published ten books; nine for children, and one for adults. All of his books share a common theme, focusing on family values and compassion as a way to cope with and overcome a variety of life’s challenges. The broad appeal of his topics has translated into sales of over 350,000 books, a noteworthy achievement for any author and more so for a writer who is self-published.

In addition to appearing at Hasbro Hospital, Richard also does a lecture series for adults on the value of reading to children. He will be speaking at an upcoming Home School Association event on Cape Cod this fall.

Richard also speaks to children at schools where his books are used for relevant class discussion. Kari Carlson, a grade-school teacher, uses Richard’s books in her classroom as teaching aids. “I am a teacher in New York and I purchased Garden of Dreams and Mountains to Climb. I absolutely love these books. They went perfectly with the theme of getting along and being sensitive to people and animals that are different. These books encourage wonderful discussions on sensitive issues the kids could deal with and discuss with open minds.”

Today, Richard continues to compose his unique inspirational books and has just completed a new book addressing the subject of children with cancer that will be available next summer.

About the author:

Raised in Needham, MA, Richard graduated from Needham High and later from Boston University with a BA. Between high school and college Richard spent 2-years serving in the U.S. Army. It is safe to say that Richard has had a diverse and interesting career. Before his success as an author, Richard was a patent-holding inventor, storeowner, importer, and avid traveler – having traveled extensively to Central and South America where he became fluent in Spanish. And prior to these endeavors, he spent 18 years in education as a teacher, coach, administrator (in both public and private schools), and most notably as headmaster of a school he founded for young people faced with academic challenges. Richard’s life’s experiences greatly influenced his career choices as well as themes in his writings. Richard and his wife, Judy, divide their time between Scituate, MA and Palm Coast, FL, where Richard continues to write inspirational books.
