September 21, 2004 (Press Release) --
'Old Mutual' one of the biggest financial institutions in the field of insurance and investment in South Africa, recently held their annual meeting in Dubai for the first time.
The five-day high-profile meeting was attended by 90 decision-makers and high-ranking officials from the institution, which acts as one of the top high-performing advisors in South Africa.
Awadh Al Seghayer, Director of Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB), which is affiliated to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), said: "The hosting of this annual meeting in Dubai is a direct consequence of DCB's aggressive marketing and promotion efforts. There was a stiff competition between Dubai and Argentina to host this event and although the latter quoted lower prices, we still succeeded in attracting them to the emirate by virtue of the value disciplines we adopt in the diversity of our destination and our service oriented approach."
Mr. Al Seghayer gave a speech during the opening session of the meeting where he thanked the organizers for giving an opportunity to Dubai to host the event.
He also highlighted the conference facilities which Dubai offers that have consistently exceeded the expectations of conference organizers from all over the world.
This was followed by a presentation on Dubai, which highlighted the past and present developments of the emirate as well as its bright future as a result of the upcoming projects in the emirate.
The attendees, who were apparently impressed with Dubai and its scale of developments, voiced their appreciation about Dubai's phenomenal growth in such a short span of life.
Local tour operator, Gulf Dunes, was the ground handler for the group.
