September 22, 2004 (Press Release) --
The much-anticipated Adoption Forum conference "Window to the Heart of Adoption" offers a diverse choice of workshops led by outstanding presenters. Hosted at the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Center in King of Prussia, PA, the Saturday October 30, 2004 symposium promises to inspire and to educate.
Keynote speaker Father Tom Brosnan, best-known for his presentation "Strengthening Families" (http://www.openadoption.org/brosnan.htm) and himself an adoptee, opens the conference with "Window to the Heart of Adoption Through a Priest’s Adopted Eyes". Father Brosnan understands the search for origins as "a religious experience, a pilgrimage of self-knowledge, a holy endeavor."
The day's ensuing presenters include Carol Schaefer, author of "The Other Mother", the PA search specialist, Sue Romberger from PAFind's YahooGroup (http://www.yahoogroups.com/group/pafind), Jane Nast from the AAC, a film on unwed mothers of the 60's by Debra Baker, and other fine adoption experts.

• "Find" where searchers are encouraged to bring their search data for personal help
• "Finding A Grave at the End of a Search"

Established in 1973, Adoption Forum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is recognized throughout Pennsylvania as a group advocating access to records for adult adoptees. Functioning as a group of members united to promote open and honest communication in adoption, Adoption Forum works to educate the public by providing speakers, an annual conference, and by presenting testimony at legislative hearings. The Forum does not provide treatment, endorse any particular adoption agency nor derive benefit from any referrals. Adoption Forum's purpose is to provide emotional support to all members of the adoption triad: adoptees, biological parents and adoptive parents and to invite support from adoption professionals and legislators.
