Hundreds of American Cancer Society volunteers and cancer survivors participating in the Society’s Relay For Life overnight event to fight cancer.

Creating a giant human pink/purple ribbon in an effort to increase awareness about cancer and to preview the American Cancer Society’s inaugural major league baseball Relay For Life event, which is planned for Shea Stadium in the Spring of 2005.
The American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life is the largest grassroots fundraiser in the country. It is an overnight community celebration where groups of friends, families, neighbors, and coworkers form teams to walk or run around, in this case, the baseball field, to raise spirits, awareness and funds to fight cancer through research, education, advocacy and patient & family services.
The American Cancer Society’s Queens Regional Vice President, David Golub, will also be accepting the Mets’ Spirit Award.
Where: Centerfield at Shea Stadium
When: Sunday, September 26th at 1:00 pm
Why: The American Cancer Society and the New York Mets are collaborating to fight cancer with major league baseball’s inaugural Relay For Life event in the spring. Because cancer has touched everyone in one way or another.
