September 28, 2004 (Press Release) --
It was announced today that Futura Technologies has reduced its unlimited local and long distance residential plan to $29.99 and eliminated their extended plan, which included a limited amount of long distance. The new telephone service, known as FuturaVoice, boasts all the features of standard telephone services, at a fraction of the cost. The service includes Caller ID/Waiting, Call Forwarding, Local Number Portability and much more, all absolutely free of charge.
Futura Technologies also announced plans to deploy a next generation, wireless broadband network using a developing standard known as WiMax or 802.16. The network initially will provide blanket, non-line-of-site coverage for most of Kansas City and surrounding rural areas. The network will eventually expand into other regions throughout the Midwest, beginning first in areas that are not currently served by broadband Internet access.
“We are building out a network to support the future of broadband services here in Kansas City and beyond” said Josh Garrett, President and CEO of Futura Technologies.
“The network will also allow us to maintain full control over elements such as Quality of Service, which is highly important to us, especially when we are providing high-quality voice services to consumers and businesses.”
Futura Technologies is planning a highly aggressive rollout for this wireless network, with plans to service the majority of Kansas City by mid 2005. The company currently provides broadband telephone services in 25 states and 132 area codes through a partnership with Nuvio Corp, also located in Kansas City.
