Veterinary Diagnostics Center Offers Canine DNA Testing Services To Veterinarians And Breeders

(Free-Press-Release.com) October 2, 2004 -- Veterinary Diagnostics Center is now offering affordable canine DNA testing services to veterinarians and breeders. Service options include Parentage Testing, Profiling, DNA Banking, Inherited Disease Screening, and Coat Color testing.

Parentage among Canines can be definitively established using PCR technology to compare allele sizes. Veterinary Diagnostics Center is using a 16 DNA marker panel for routine parentage testing and keeps an additional 13 markers in reserve for 'extended testing' for cases involving closely related dogs.

Canine Profiling (Genotyping) is used to establish a secure, permanent ID for your canine. Using the same technology we use to establish parentage among canine families, the unique set of allele sizes for dog are revealed and recorded.

DNA Banking is the option of long-term storage for your dog�s DNA in our environmentally controlled DNA banking facility.

Disease Testing offered include: Copper Toxicosis in Bedlington Terriers, Cystinuria in Newfoundlands, Phosphofructokinase Deficiency (PFK) in English Springer Spaniel and Cocker Spaniel, and Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PK) in West Highland Terriers

Coat Color Testing allows us to identify the individual color genotype from tested parents. Breeders can more accurately predict the color of future progeny of Labrador Retrievers.

DNA analysis is performed using the most powerful PCR technology available. This is in accordance with the standards and guidelines for human DNA testing set forth by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA).
