October 2, 2004 (Press Release) --
Music On Command™ is a patent pending technology developed by Baxter Technologies, Inc. Music On Command™ is a B2B provider for an easy to use system for the music stores and radio stations to provide their listeners - users a purchase method for music content they hear on the radio by using our proprietary software where the song(s) are sent to the consumers email. With low infrastructure requirements and the strong incentive for users to obtain music content legally, Music On Command™ represents a breakthrough technology for both radio Broadcasters and Music Labels - Sellers.
The system is best described as a telephony extension to the Nielsen real-time play database that enables callers from any telephone to purchase the music they hear on the radio at the same time it is broadcast. The telephony extension runs at a call-center and brokers user requests between Nielsen and the radio station, music store or other business partner.
Nielsen Broadcast Data Systems is the world's leading provider of airplay tracking for the entertainment industry. Employing a patented digital pattern recognition technology, Nielsen BDS captures in excess of 100 million song detections annually on more than 1,200 radio stations in over 130 markets in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) and 22 Canadian markets.
This embodiment of the present invention utilizes land line and wireless cell phone capable of running applications. A compatible application server provides local and satellite radio station information. As users hear the audio content they want, they execute either: (1) a purchase command; or (2) an information request from the land line and/or cell phone.
It is preferred that the portable device transmit a timestamp in addition to the channel identification value and the user identification value to the processing server.
Once either request is received, the user's subscriber profile dictates how the processing follows. The audio file may be electronically delivered to the user's home computer or the service may queue up all the requests until a customized music CD is generated and distributed to the subscriber's address.
At the present time we are seeking to partner with a select group of radio – music content providers. Please see MusicOnCommand.com as the BETA site is up for testing.
