October 20, 2004 (Press Release) --
In June 2004 Political Gateway, a privately funded non-partisan website, contacted the state and national chairs for the Republican and Democratic Parties to inform them of the free campaign website service for candidates and voters.
Political Gateway offers 3 unique concepts for voters and candidates.
1- Candidates can log their campaign websites into a catalogue
2- Voters can search the city they live in to find all candidates registered
3- Candidates can build high tech websites for free if they do not have them.
Intended as a way for voters to easily find their candidates and for candidates to easily find voters, Political Gateway is a revolution for voters and candidates. The Gateway is built to cover all cities and all elections, right down to the city level - even during the even years- and is the only site online that provides this service.
And it is free.
When told, by phone of this service, the national and state party chairs replied to the owner, Bob Hoffman, that 'they would never tell their candidates about Political Gateway because it lists candidates from the other party'.
When reminded that the Party does not provide web services to most candidates and in fact most do not have websites, they replied 'It does not matter, we will never tell them about you, the candidates will just have to go without a website'.
Voters had a chance to learn more about their candidates and the issues than any election held in the US before and the Democrat and Republican leaders muzzled Political Gateway and took away a wonderful and free tool for voter awareness.
Luckily, Mr Hoffman realizes in the end that candidates will use the service whether the party likes it or not…and so will the voters. He even offers candidates free interviews on a local radio show he hosts on the weekends. He believes this type of informational control to keep voters in the dark so 'hate and misinformation campaigns like the current presidential contest' is old hat and the internet demands factual and correct information from candidates… as do voters. A service he says, "which my website will force the Parties in the future to do".
If you are a candidate for office and live in any of the 50 states in the US and did not have to 20,000 for a professional website… And your party did not tell you about Political Gateway, why don't you call them and ask them why they failed you as party leaders?
If you are a voter, ask your state and national party leaders why they refuse to allow you access to information you need to make informed decisions.
Mr Hoffman lives in Broward County Florida, a county I am sure all know from the 2000 elections. Repeated attempts to contact the Republican and Democratic parties in his own county have been met with a 'don't call or email us, we'll call you'.
The USA is polarized with many of our neighbors hating each other because of the mis-information out there. Perhaps the Parties are to blame, not my fellow citizens.
Shame on the leaders of the parties who place little regard to peace as a nation and are willing to cause strife to gain power. Shame on you.
God Bless the Internet ….. 'The times they are a changing' my fellow Americans.

The 2004 election cycle left hundreds of low income or non-tech candidates without a website by refusing to inform candidates about Political Gateway.
