October 24, 2004 (Press Release) --
Amman – October 2004 – Midas announced on Thursday October 21, 2004 the launch of their “Ramadan Orphanage Solidarity Campaign” as one of their Corporate Social Responsibilities activities.
Mr. Raja Khoury, Midas Furniture Jordan Chief Executive Officer, stated during the press conference that was held in the Intercontinental Hotel, “Midas truly believes that it is the private sector’s national and humane duty to support different charity and goodwill organizations. In response to Her Royal Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah’s call to support orphans, help improve their living standards, and play a role in securing a future for them after they leave the orphanages, Midas will donate 5% of its sales to the “Adopt A Palestinian Orphan Program” and the “Orphan’s Future Program” for two weeks. In addition, Midas will offer a 20% gift from Midas for each customer on their purchases during this period.”
Mr. Khoury added that Midas will continue to plan and develop their Corporate Social Responsibilities plan which aims to support charity and goodwill organizations and help build a sense of team spirit and productivity with local institutions, the press corps, and the private and public sectors to further improve the standard of living and the quality of life for all.
He also stated that, “by forging such close relationships with existing local institutions we have been able to position ourselves as good corporate citizens and have woven ourselves into the fabric of our society through our deep understanding of the needs of our community and its sensitivities.”
Mr. Khoury applauded companies from the private sector who have taken the initiative during the month of Ramadan to donate a percentage of their sales or profits to support different humanitarian causes from supporting orphans to medical institutions, and he urged that everyone from the private sector to do the same during this Holy month.
Finally, Mr. Khoury noted that this meeting will be the first of many more meetings to bring together the press corps and the private sector to work in harmony for a better tomorrow.
