IRVINE, CALIFORNIA (November 8, 2004) – ITERATION2™, Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and leading Axapta partner providing tier-one enterprise software solutions at a tier two price, is pleased to announce the release of a Microsoft Windows Mobile Customer Solution Case Study from Microsoft. The topic is the sharing of valuable business operational data with mobile workers using Microsoft Sharepoint and Windows Mobile. The seamless capture and sharing of field information and business processes has provided the Linc Group with a major competitive business advantage in the Mechanical Contracting Industry.
The Linc Group teamed with Microsoft® Gold Certified Partner Iteration2 to implement a mobile solution called QuickTips that gives employees the ability to collaborate and share their industry knowledge by integrating tightly with Microsoft Office SharePoint® Portal Server 2003, the Microsoft Office collaboration and information-sharing portal. Development required very few resources: one full-time developer, one part-time project manager, and one part-time business analyst. The application was developed on an aggressive schedule, with actual coding taking less than two weeks. Initially, the mobile solution will be deployed to 300 mobile mechanics and technicians on devices running Microsoft Windows MobileTM 2003 software for Pocket PCs: Rapid response time is of the essence in the HVAC service industry and, for that reason, mechanics and technicians need access to information to be able to service equipment in the field. With QuickTips, the easy-to-use interface helps employees access information quickly. The user interface is similar to a search engine where employees enter keywords to initiate a search. The mechanic or technician simply clicks on a link from a list of results to access the QuickTip for more information. The application first searches through tips stored on the device. If the mechanic or technician does not find the necessary information, the mechanic or technician can connect to the Linc corporate network and access the live production library, where the most current tips reside.
