People nationwide are invited to give hope to children with cancer by providing monetary gifts to light the spectacular 50-foot Lights of Hope tree for Cancer Recovery Foundation.

Cancer Recovery Foundation Little Angel’s Children’s Project invites the public to support its holiday campaign to give hope to children with cancer across the country. Lights of Hope,™ a spectacular 50-foot lighted tree, will be on display outside the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey, PA and on the internet, with the virtual Lights of Hope tree at www.cancerrecovery.org.
Each light lit between November 11, 2004 and January 10, 2005 will shine bright as a symbol of monetary support and in-kind donations of new, unwrapped toys. Cancer Recovery Foundation’s Little Angels Children’s Project provides more than 10,000 toy-filled gift bags to children fighting cancer in more than 170 pediatric oncology centers across the United States.
“Children are robbed of their childhood when they undergo cancer treatment. Our mission is to bring some light into those dark days and give them hope that they can just be kids,” said, Greg Anderson, 20-year cancer survivor and Cancer Recovery Foundation Founder and CEO.
In addition, this year Cancer Recovery will provide more than $18,000 in Emergency Services Funding to families with children undergoing cancer treatments and send many children in remission to therapeutic camps. The Foundation also will distribute more than 8,000 free Cancer Survival Kits as part of its Adult Cancer Education and Prevention program.
Based in Hershey, the non-profit organization’s mission is to help all people prevent and survive cancer. The organization’s reach spans the globe and has been helping people since 1985.
Cancer Recovery Foundation focuses on the “people side” of cancer. The Foundation does not underwrite cancer research or medical treatments. It emphasizes a holistic approach to getting well again, pioneering the “cancer survival pyramid,” a tool widely used in cancer education.
Cancer Recovery Foundation’s adult programs emphasize healthy diets, ability-appropriate exercise, mind/body and faith/health disciplines. All Cancer Recovery programs are in addition to, not in place of, conventional medical treatments.
The Foundation’s children’s programs provide gift baskets to children during treatment, camp scholarships following treatment and emergency financial assistance to families in need.
Lights of Hope will be on display and lit every night between November 11, 2004 and January 10, 2005. New, unwrapped toys may be donated anytime outside the Antique Auto Museum.
Items most needed include: new stuffed animals, hand-held games, puzzles, travel games, Play Dough, crayons , coloring books, markers, drawing pads, craft kits, bubbles and phone cards.
