Illness Doesn't Get in the Way of Creativity

(Free-Press-Release.com) November 24, 2004 -- Welsh artist and blogger Michael Nobbs (http://www.michaelnobbs.com) isn't letting the fact he has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome get in the way of being creative as he releases the first issue of his illustrated journal The Beany (http://www.thebeany.com).

Michael was diagnosed with ME/CFS in 1997 after stuggling with ill health for more than a decade. Previously a publisher of an Arts Council for Wales supported literary journal, Queer Words, he finally gave up working and began to develope a new career as an artist.

Finally realising that painting was still too much work for someone with ME/CFS he made the decision to change medium and began making small drawing of the things around him.

"I finally realised that even after I was diagnosed with ME I never really accepted I was ill. Painting was just one more way I tried to prove to the world I WAS somebody," says Michael. "Now I've stopped trying and simply make drawings of the things around me. I'm much happier."

A few months ago Michael began to work on The Beany an illustrated journal about his life on the west coast of Wales. It is released on 1st December.

"The Beany is my way of showing that little and often, and working in a sustainable way can mean even someone with a chronic illness can be creative.
