December 21, 2004 (Press Release) --
Many ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) vendors promise solutions from third party vendors; the reality is that such bolt-on solutions create a nightmare. A manufacturer or distributor who offers products and/or services is faced with unique challenges. Minnesota-based, Packaging Inc. provides fastening devices, such as nail and staple guns and must service those serialized components. The firm needed to find an ERP solution that could offer a service module and a method of tracking these fixed assets. If Packaging, Inc. had selected a non-integrated ERP solutions from a typical ERP vendor with a bolt-on service module the results would be:
• Extended implementation cycle due development of the interface
• Maintenance and upgrades of the core ERP system may invalidate or make useless the bolt-on service module
• Maintenance and upgrades of the bolt-on service module, may invalidate or make useless the ERP system
Given the industry standard of one upgrade per year for each software solution (core ERP and each bolt-on modules) this would generate an on-going and very costly impact to keeping an ERP system running.
Packaging Inc. chose PRONTO-Xi because the service module was part of the ERP offering, rather than a third party bolt-on solution.
PRONTO North America, (www.PRONTOerp.com) based in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, is the North American Master Distributor of PRONTO-Xi, a comprehensive software system allowing manufacturers, distributors, and retailers to effectively manage all phases of the supply chain.
