December 24, 2004 (Press Release) --
Artists Troy Broussard & Michael Anderson will exhibit recent oil paintings in January at the Lowell Collins Gallery. Their show, “Two Guys Painting” will open with a wine reception on Saturday, January 15, 2005, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. The Lowell Collins Gallery is located at 2903 Saint Street, Houston, Texas 77027. The exhibit will hang from January 15 to January 28, 2005.
Broussard & Anderson have painted together throughout the year of 2004. Often setting up a still life or arranging for a nude model, the result is two distinct yet similar pieces. This will be the artist’s fourth showing together since joining forces. They are currently exhibited at the Zigler Museum of Art in Louisiana.
About Recent Works; Two Guys Painting:
Troy and Michael co-chaired the decorations committee for the BCBC (Bayou City Boy’s Club) Jungle Event 2004, and have shared studio space since.
Troy and Michael have also dabbled in plein air paintings with portable art kits. The two artists painted together in the marshland of Louisiana in November and will be traveling to Amsterdam from late December to mid-January to paint and search for inspiration.
Enthused about their recent paintings, they feel that this body of work is out of the ordinary perspective into the transformation of (sometimes) mundane objects into works of art, filtered through two artistic minds, with two distinct outcomes. They hope that the grouping of similar compositions and themes becomes interactive with viewers, not only as an exhibit but also an installation, creating puzzles and comparisons within the mind and between paintings.
Aside from the Zigler Museum exhibit, the artists exhibited work in October at Spa 1107, Houston, and in November at Pujo Street Café, Lake Charles.
